How to Add Nofollow Links in WordPress Easily?

Linking to shady websites could affect your site’s ranking in the search results. That’s why we use nofollow links, it’s a way to specify that a link doesn’t have to be counted as a vote by a search engine.

In this guide, I am going to show you how to add a nofollow link in WordPress manually and by using a plugin.

What is a Nofollow Link?

It is an HTML link attribute which is used by webmasters to tell search engines do not follow a link. Most people use nofollow links when they link to affiliate product sites or sites which they don’t trust.

It is a well-known SEO practice to add a nofollow tag to all of your risky external links. It Stops Google from following those links hence it will not leak your site’s link juice.

Difference Between Dofollow or Nofollow Link

Nofollow links just as well look like a regular link to users. But, all the major search engines can read a nofollow attribute. In terms of SEO, nofollow links are less effective for the linked page.

For example, if you link a page from your website and add a nofollow attribute with it, the linked site won’t get search ranking boost. For making any link nofollow we use rel=”nofollow” attribute within our link.

On the other hand, there’s no such thing as a dofollow link. However, any link which doesn’t use nofollow attribute is generally considered by most people as a dofollow link.

And dofollow links are valuable as they are followed by search engines and they count them as a vote. They help in improving the rank of the linked page in search results.
